ATO Talent Recruitment is supporting one of the largest aviation training organisations in the USA in identifying a Director of Training to oversee all aspects of airplane flight training operations.
With a fleet significantly over 50 aircraft, multiple campuses, FAA Part 141 approval, and a reputation for excellence in both domestic and international pilot training, this organization is recognized as a leader in professional flight education and airline pathway development.
The Director of Training will lead a team to ensure flight operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with FAA and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement and innovation across training programs.

What you’ll do:

Lead Daily Flight Operations: Oversee and manage all airplane flight training activities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations across campuses. Assist flight training management staff which includes: FAA Chief Instructor, Campus Chief Instructors, and flight standards managers.

Enhance Training Programs: Review and improve flight training programs to meet evolving regulatory and industry standards. As well as collaborating with flight training managers to update and refine training materials and curricula.

Ensure Safety & Compliance: Collaborate with safety officers to uphold FAA compliance and implement rigorous safety management systems.

Manage & Develop Teams: Manage operational staff, including the supervision and support of department managers such as: Recruitment, Training, Performance evaluations and professional development.

Drive Operational Excellence: Manage flight Operations budgets, monitor costs, and optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency.

Advance Technology & Innovation: Integrate new tools, flight training technologies, and digital systems to modernize operations and enhance learning outcomes.

Partner Relations: Maintain and strengthen relationships with airline and industry partners to ensure program alignment and graduate success.

Strategic Growth: Identify opportunities for flight training program expansion and new offerings development in support of long-term organizational goals.
- Directly supervises Airplane Chief Instructors, Manager of CFI Standards and Program Directors.
We’re looking for a leader with:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration (advanced degree or certifications such as ATP/CFI preferred).

Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience in flight training, including experience in a leadership or managerial role.

Proven success in managing flight operations, ensuring safety compliance, and leading high-performing aviation teams.

Strong understanding of FAA regulations, safety standards, and best practices in flight training.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and program innovation.
